Poland has introduced rules that as of 1 October tighten emission standards for domestic coal stoves. Less eco-friendly stoves will be sold and installed in homes only until mid-2018.

“Along with the Energy Ministry we have completed work on a law to come into effect before the heating season. Under the new regulations, people will no longer be allowed to use the lowest quality fuels such as coal slurry ... to heat houses,” said Jadwiga Emilewicz, the deputy minister of development.
