Justyna Kaczkowska won the individual three-kilometre race at a track cycling World Cup competition in Pruszków, central Poland on Sunday.

With a time of 3:31.261, Kaczkowska was more than five seconds faster than runner up Annemiek van Vleuten of the Netherlands.

The 2017 UCI Track Cycling World Cup over the weekend was the first round in 2017 cycle.

The event was held at the Polish velodrome in Pruszków and among the participants were World and Olympic Champions including Adrian Tekliński, the winner of the gold in the men's scratch race at the Track Cycling World Championships in Hong Kong in April as well as fellow teammates Wojciech Pszczolarski, who won bronze in Hong Kong, Szymon Sajnok and Justyna Kaczkowska.

"Now we have very good young riders and we have eight people at the top level. We have good sprinters and we are on the road to the Tokyo Games, where the gold medal is our target," Tekliński told Radio Poland.

After the World Cup in Pruszków, the next round of the World Cup competition will take place during 10-12 November in Manchester, then 2-3 December in Milton, Canada and 9-10 December 2017 in Santiago, Chile.

The last round of the 2017 World Cup competition has been scheduled for 19-21 January 2018 in Minsk, Belarus.
