Poland is eager to host one of them on the strength of its central geographical location and proximity to Russia.

Warsaw has also pledged to contribute to an increased NATO presence in Afghanistan.

"We are ready to provide our military capabilities. Poland is the most appropriate destination for such a command centre from a military point of view,” said Poland’s Defence Minister Antoni Macierewicz.
