Centennial Run to celebrate Polish independence
A series of mass sports events are planned this year to mark the centenary of Poland's regained independence.

Sławek Szefs reports that one such event is the Centennial Run, which is expected to simultaneously gather at least 100,000 participants in 100 cities across the country on November 11 – Poland’s Independence Day.
Tomasz Majewski, a two-time shot put Olympic champion and vice-president of the Polish Track and Field Association (PZLA), said that in the case of Poland there is a strong connection between national independence and sports.
“It should be remembered that the forefathers of our independence were frequently the forefathers of Polish sports […]. Their memory also has to be honored," Majewski told Polish Radio.
