Poland was top of the medal table after the first two days of the European Athletics Championships in Berlin.

With two golds and two silvers from the men’s hammer throw and shot put, Poland was leading the pack ahead of Britain and Ukraine.

A record 86 Polish athletes were competing in the European Athletics Championships, which were being held in the German capital from August 6 to 12.
