Nine presidents, including Poland's head of state, Andrzej Duda, two parliamentary speakers, one prime minister and one foreign minister have arrived for the meeting.

The guests also include the President of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, US Secretary of Energy Rick Perry, the German Minister of Foreign Affairs, Heiko Maas, the President of European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Suma Chakrabarti, as well as the President of the European Investment Bank, Werner Hoyer.

The summit participants are expected to approve a list of about 40 priority economic projects, as well as agree on the creation of a network of Chambers of Commerce in participating states.

The two-day meeting also includes a business forum, attended by representatives of the Three Seas Initiative states, other EU states, the Western Balkans, the US, Moldova, Ukraine, Georgia, European Commission officials and international financial organisations and experts.

"We are very happy to have at the same table in Bucharest the US, the European Commission and Germany. This initiative is not against anybody or anything. It is pro-Europe, it is pro-development, pro-connectivity and pro-development in a strategic sense," the Romanian ambassador to Poland, Ovidiu Dranga, told Radio Poland.

Launched by Croatia and Poland in 2015, the Three Seas Initiative is aimed at providing political support for enhanced economic cooperation in fields such as energy, transport, telecommunications and environmental protection for states along a north-south axis from the Baltic Sea to the Adriatic Sea and the Black Sea.

The first Three Seas Initiative summit was held in Dubrovnik in 2016. The second one, in Warsaw in 2017, was attended by US President Donald Trump.
