  • Polish ruling party wins regional vote, exit poll shows
The ruling conservative Law and Justice (PiS) party won the most votes in a race for regional assemblies as Poland held local government elections on Sunday, according to an exit poll.

However, the poll showed the ruling conservatives losing to the opposition in mayoral races in a number of major cities.

“It will turn out who has actually won the election only when coalitions are set up at the level of regional assemblies and we will see who’s ruling there,” said political scientist Ewa Marciniak.

The official election returns were expected on Tuesday at the earliest.
