One of the longest commercial streets in Europe - Piotrkowska Street, which sweeps through the heart of Lodz, central Poland, has won an internet vote to be revealed first in Google's popular Street View facility.

Fifteen sites competed with each other in a public internet vote to decide which should pop up first on the net. Among them the Renaissance town centre of Zamosc, the ruined castle of Krzyztopor, and the fortress of the Teutonic Knights in Malbork. Besides its grandeur, Piotrkowska street is also famed for its “Walk of Fame”, a sequence of stars celebrating legends from the Polish film industry. By becoming the first Polish tourist destination on Google’s Street View Łódź repeated its success from March when it was included in the Polish version of the Monopoly game.
