“He went to the reception desk, sprayed some gas in her face and then started to run away.” said Konrad Niklewicz of Civic Platform, in an interview with the Polish Press Agency (PAP).

“The rest of the staff ran after him and caught him in the street,” Niklewicz added.

“We immediately called the police and an ambulance.”

The intruder was a 32-year-old man, reportedly of no fixed abode.

“He will be questioned,” said police spokesman Mariusz Mrozek.

“We hope that his motives will then become clear.”

According Mrozek, the type of spray can which the man used can be bought over the counter without any special permits.

Mrozek noted that the receptionist has not suffered any complications, and will make a swift recovery. (nh)
