The Passion Club belongs to a network of controversial venues whose outlets were formerly named Cocomo.

The brand changed its name after a number of cases were brought against the owner of the chain.

The Gazeta Wyborcza daily disclosed on Tuesday that a man was taken by ambulance from the club on the night of Sunday 21 September.

He had apparently been denied entry to the club, and he was allegedly hit with such force by a bouncer that his head slammed into the wall of the building.

The victim did not regain consciousness in hospital, and the bouncer has disappeared.

“Such a situation did indeed occur,” commented Malgorzata Klaus, spokesperson for the Wroclaw prosecutor's office.

“The personal details of the security man are known to us - we are looking for him.”

Cocomo clubs functioned in several cities across Poland, and all their names were changed earlier this month, owing to controversy surrounding the venues.

Some customers have filed complaints relating to extortionate bills, with the highest to date being close to 1 million zloty (239, 546 euro) at an outlet in Poznan. (nh)
