Each family is to recive 6,000 zloty (1,500 euro) for immediate relief, such as food, clothing, medicine and other necessities, the Administration Ministry’s spokesman, Artur Koziolek has told the PAP news agency.

The funds – 48,000 zloty in total – are to be paid out on Monday or Tuesday at the latest, the Administration and Digitisation Minister Andrzej Halicki told Polish Radio on Saturday.

“This is the maximum amount which is envisaged for this type of catastrophe,” he said, adding that “this is a drop in the ocean as far as needs go, so the local authorities are also going to help.”

Two married journalists and their young son were found dead beneath rubble late on Thursday night at the scene.

The victims were confirmed as Dariusz Kmiecik, a reporter for the private TVN station, and his wife Brygida Frosztega-Kmiecik, who worked for public broadcaster TVP, together with their two-year-old son. (jb)
