Police in Olsztyn have released a shocking Public Safety Announcement where a group of youths drink before getting behind the wheel.

Last year, there were 2,101 accidents related to drunk driving, resulting in 265 deaths.

Although the figure is improving - in 2000 there were 5,243 accidents which left 676 dead - law-enforcement authorities feel that there is much left to be done.

The film compares this activity with playing Russian roulette where the driver and four passengers are seen passing around a gun and pulling the trigger.

The horrific results are meant to send a message that driving while drunk is a matter of risking the lives of all the people in the vehicle.

“Every time drunk drivers and their passengers set off on a journey by car, it is like putting a revolver to their temples and playing Russian roulette. Most often they lose,” Olsztyn Police said in a statement as cited by Gazeta Wyborcza. (rg/jb)
