"The new terminal will receive its first passengers in June, as planned,” Michał Kaczmarzyk, the head of Polish Airports (PPL) told reporters on Thursday.

“Until the end of April, we want to carry out any acceptance procedures, and fully prepare the terminal in May,” Kaczmarzyk added.

Changes were not limited to the passenger side of the terminal, but also the section of the building responsible for luggage sorting and customs control.

All of these changes will increase the comfort of passengers and airport capacity. "The new terminal will be able to handle 20 million annual passengers. Last year we served over 10 million passengers. In 2015, we are expecting to handle 11 million passengers. Our airport is likely to become the largest port in Central Europe,” Kaczmarzyk said. (rg)
