A 42-year-old father is facing up to 25 years in jail after threatening to hurl his seven-month-old baby out of the window, the police said on Tuesday.

The police were called to a scene of domestic disturbance in the centre of Legnica in the south-western region of Lower Silesia on Monday morning.

They arrived at the scene to find the 42-year-old sitting on the window ledge, holding his son in his arms. The man repeatedly held the baby outside the window, threatening to drop it.

After more than ten minutes of negotiations, the police persuaded the man to yield the baby to the mother.

Initially uncommunicative, the suspect then claimed not to remember anything of the incident due to a large intake of drugs. He carries a number of previous convictions. (an)
