If a snap general election were held this month, the right-wing coalition block led by Law and Justice would receive the most votes, with 32 percent, an opinion poll has indicated.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz's Civic Platform party would garner 30 percent.

According to the survey carried out by TNS Polska, the other two parties that would enter the Parliament, by making the 5 percent threshold needed, are the Democratic Left Alliance – with 8 percent, and the Polish People’s Party (PSL), the junior partner in the present ruling coalition, with 5 percent.

The expected turn-out is 60 percent, but as many as 37 percent of the respondents say that they would ‘probably’ take part in the elections.

The poll was carried out on a representative sample of 971 Polish residents over 18 years of age. The parliamentary election is scheduled for the autumn, while on 10 May Poles will be electing a new President. (mk/nh)
