Warsaw will develop a digital map of traffic in the city and agglomeration by mid-2016 to aid planning.

The digital map, which will allow simulations of future traffic flows, will help planning development of public transport and infrastructure investments, Deputy Mayor Jacek Wojciechowicz told a press conference on Thursday.

The municipality will kick off polling and traffic and passenger flow measurements next week.

“The most recent comprehensive traffic survey was carried out ten years ago,” he said. “Much has changed since then in the capital city’s transport system, there have been many road investments, the central section of the second metro line has opened. That makes the model of 2005 increasingly out of date.” (an)
