A group of masked protesters dressed in black had occupied an abandoned townhouse on Sunday evening, hitching up a banner and blaring out music from the building.

Police attempted to negotiate with the demonstrators after complaints were lodged.

With no breakthrough by 6 am, counter-terrorist officers stormed the building.

The demonstrators reportedly hurled bricks, bottles and other objects at the officers.

However, the so-called Alliance of Anarchist Groups (Alians Grup Anarchistycznych) claimed on their Facebook page that their action was ''peaceful’’ and that it was the police that had resorted to violence. (nh)
