The IUNG warned in a statement that “there is a threat of agricultural drought around the whole country, in particular for spring cereals and legumes.”

According to the institute spring cereals are threatened in seven voivodeships, with 3.2 percent of total arable land at risk.

The most vulnerable voivodeship is the Kuyavian-Pomeranian one in north-central Poland, where 13 percent of all arable land could potentially suffer from agricultural drought.

The IUNG added that light soil areas are at most risk from possible droughts. (sl/nh)
