PM Kopacz was travelling back to Warsaw from the Małopolska region as part of her electoral campaign.

The high-speed train stopped at around 9:00 pm around the town of Miechów in southern Poland. Train authorities said that the train would be delayed by about 10 minutes, but at around 9:30 pm, another announcement was made that the delay was extended to an hour.

Prime Minister Kopacz was campaigning in Małopolska over the weekend. On Saturday, she visited the Newag train factory in Nowy Sącz, as well as visited a local food festival. She also attended a charity basketball game between a team run by NBA star Marcin Gortat against members of Polish Armed Forces.

Storms over the weekend saw thousands left without electricity and homes around the country damaged by hurricane-like winds.

The date for the general election in Poland has been set for 25 October. (rg)
