Łódź factory up in flames

Firefighters are trying to extinguish a blaze which has engulfed a plastics factory in the central Polish city of Łódź.

No victims have been confirmed.
The skyline of Łódź was filled with smoke on Monday morning, as the fire produced thick black clouds of toxic fumes.
Adam Antczak from the municipal State Fire Service in Łódź told the IAR news service that the factory is located in the industrial area of the city. He explained that the fire started in a production hall measuring 30 by 60 metres. Around 20 fire brigades were involved in the operation. (rg)
