The conservative Law and Justice (PiS) party is clearly leading in the polls ahead of the governing Civic Platform (PO) a few weeks before the 25 October general election in Poland.

Both PiS and PO lost some support, according to new data by pollster IBRiS. Law and Justice leads with a support of 33.4 percent. Civic Platform is supported by 23.8 percent of those polled.

Since the previous poll, PiS lost three percentage points of support, and PO lost one percentage point.

The study shows that six parties would manage to get into the Sejm lower house of parliament, crossing the five percent threshold required by Polish law.

In addition to PiS and PO, parties represented in Parliament would be: United Left (9.5 percent), liberal NowoczesnaPL (9.3 percent), agrarian Polish People's Party (6.6 percent), and the populist Kukiz '15 political gathering (5.8 percent).

Slightly more than half of the respondents (54.7 percent) announced that they will likely go to vote in the polls. One in three of those surveyed did not intend to go to vote in the general elections on 25 October. (rg/rk)
