Speaking to Polish Radio on Wednesday, Michał Jach, indicated the necessity to increase the number of Polish troops from 100,000 to 150,000.

However, Jach stressed that the process is complicated and should not be rushed.

He pointed out that it is not solely a question of funding, but also the strategic placement of infrastructure.

Fortunately enough, there is no problem with recruitment, Jach explained, as professional soldiering is a popular career-path among youths.

Jach claims that 20 people apply for every single vacancy in the armed forces.

The Law and Justice MP stressed the fact that Polish Defence Minister Antoni Macierewicz is determined to rebuild the Polish armed forces “as fast as he can”, to ensure Poland's territorial safety.

“The Polish Armed Forces need profound reforms to achieve operational capacity which would guarantee the integrity of Polish borders,” Jach said. (tf/rg)
