Fewer accidents over Christmas period this year

This year's Christmas season was less tragic and calmer than last year, Poland's fire brigade said in a comment.

The most tragic was Christmas Eve, when 287 fires broke out, in which five people were killed and 10 injured.

A spokesman for the fire brigade, said that between 24-26 December, firefighters responded to 2,007 calls and dealt with some 895 fires, which killed eight people and injured 53 others . According to the spokesman, Boxing Day involved 329 fires, which killed three people. (rg)
