Poland marks Flag Day

President Andrzej Duda is taking part in festivities marking 'Flag Day', which bridges the gap between the national holidays of Labour Day on 1 May and 3rd May Constitution Day.

Flag Day has been celebrated in Poland since an act of parliament passed in February 2004 and is commemorated alongside Polonia and Poles Abroad Day.
The three national holidays form the 'long weekend' spring holiday in Poland.
President Duda attended the raising of the Polish flag at the clock tower of the Royal Castle in Warsaw at 11.15 am.

He later honoured several Poles who have made outstanding contributions to society among the Polish diaspora, at a ceremony at the Belvedere Palace.
“The white and red flag is ours, it is shared," the president said.
“It belongs to all those who live in Poland and all those who live abroad but feel Polish in their hearts," he added. (nh/pk)
