Polish scientists find Zika treatment?

Scientists from three Polish universities say they have made a discovery that can help combat the Zika virus.

The discovery was made by scientists from Gdańsk University, Wrocław University of Science and Technology and the Jagiellonian University in Kraków.
They say they have identified which chemical particles will bind to an important Zika virus enzyme to deactivate it.
This will slow the reproduction of the virus, they add.
The Zika virus, which originated in Africa and is carried by mosquitoes, has spread to Asia, Europe and the Americas. It can cause autoimmune disease and deformities in foetuses. (vz/pk)
