The man, identified as Kyuria A. (name withheld under Polish privacy laws) and who is from Chechnya, was detained for three months on Monday.
According to PAP, evidence collected by Poland's Internal Security Agency (ABW) shows that the man fought with the terrorist Islamic State group in Syria for two years.
PAP reported on Friday that after gathering evidence about Kyuria A., the agency requested the prosecutor's office to issue an arrest warrant and carry out searches of locations where he had stayed.
He is suspected of illegally crossing the Polish border and of taking part in internationally-banned military activities in the Middle East.
He faces an eight-year prison sentence if found guilty. (rg/pk)
