The paper said that “in three years all Poles will be driving electric cars” as a result of the breakthrough.

The device constructed by scientist Zbigniew Gałuszkiewicz is, he told the daily, an energy container, an electricity generator and an engine at the same time.

However, the scientist said that Poland lacks infrastructure that would allow cars to be charged in just five minutes. But he added that it was a matter of three years to build a network of charging stations wide enough for drivers to travel all over Poland.

In the interview with Polska the Times, Gałuszkiewicz said that his solution is universal and cars equipped with his invention could also be charged at regular charging stations -- although that would take longer.

The scientist added that Polish refining giant Lotos is interested in his invention, which could also be used in other fields like railway transportation and the military.
