Polish gov’t supported by 39%, opposed by 34%: poll

Poland’s conservative Law and Justice (PiS) government is supported by 39% of voters, while 34% oppose it, according to a new poll.

The survey by pollster CBOS found that almost half -- 47% -- of respondents were happy with PiS’s Beata Szydło as prime minister, while 38% were critical of her. CBOS said that was the best result since December 2015.
Fifty-one percent were satisfied with the government’s performance since Szydło was appointed prime minister after PiS came to power in late 2015, three percentage points up on April this year.
Meanwhile, 38% were dissatisfied, down three percentage points.
CBOS said the number of those satisfied had exceeded 50 percent for the first time since January 2016.
The study was conducted by computer-assisted direct interviews from 5 to 14 May on a representative sample of 1,034 adults in Poland.
