Storms down power lines in Poland

Almost 58,000 consumers were left without electricity after Poland was buffeted by storms and heavy rain late on Monday.

Gales tore down power lines and damaged transformer stations.
Firefighters were called out more than 750 times across the country.
"Firefighters worked to remove hundreds of trees and branches broken and knocked down by the winds which obstructed many streets, roads as well as railway tracks," said Paweł Frątczak, a spokesman for the fire brigade.
"This morning the situation is slowly stabilizing, with 4,100 recipients without electricity supplies across Poland,” Frątczak added on Tuesday morning.
