Top officials at mass as Polish PM’s son starts out as priest

Prime Minister Beata Szydło, the head of the Poland’s ruling conservatives and top officials on Monday took part in a mass launching the premier’s son in his career as a newly ordained Roman Catholic priest.

The ceremony was attended by Jarosław Kaczyński, leader of Poland’s governing Law and Justice party, First Lady Agata Kornhauser-Duda, and Poland’s interior, family, environment, education and justice ministers.
The mass took place at the historic Jasna Góra monastery in Częstochowa, southern Poland, which the prime minister’s son, Tymoteusz Szydło, described as the “spiritual heart of the nation.”
Tymoteusz Szydło, 25, was ordained a priest last month..
Prime Minister Szydło’s other son, 23-year-old Błażej, is a medical student.
The Jasna Góra monastery houses Poland's most venerated icon, the Black Madonna, which has drawn pilgrims since the mediaeval period.
