Downpours cause flooding in Warsaw

Firefighters have been called out around 50 times in Warsaw to pump out flooded homes and streets after overnight downpours.

"Firefighters are carrying out activities consisting of pumping out water from flooded streets, properties and basements," said fire brigade spokesman Karol Kierzkowski,

Drivers faced delays as fire crews on Monday pumped out water from a flood-prone junction on Marynarska street, near Warsaw’s international airport.

Firefighters were called out around 100 times in total in the Mazowsze region around and including Warsaw.
