The 35-year-old is believed to have earned PLN 1.2 million (EUR 285,000, USD 333,000) from such activities, Marcin Maludy, a spokesman for police in Lubuskie province, western Poland, said on Wednesday.

The man’s wife has been charged with money laundering.

“Both face imprisonment -- the man faces at least three years in jail and his wife between six months and 10 years behind bars," Maludy said.

Investigators believe the suspect was involved in criminal activities for four years.

October 18 has been designated EU Anti-Trafficking Day. On Wednesday it was being marked for the 11th time with conferences and exhibitions.
