LOT will also be the official carrier for the national Olympic team for the 2022 winter games in Beijing and the 2020 summer games in Tokyo under an agreement the carrier signed with the Polish Olympic Committee (PKOl) in Warsaw on Thursday.

LOT CEO Rafał Milczarski and PKOl head Andrzej Kraśnicki shook hands on the agreement on board a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, one of the carrier's most modern planes.

“We are proud to be able to host Poland’s best athletes on board our planes,” LOT’s Milczarski said. “We are able to guarantee them the most comfortable, direct and safe trip to the three Olympic capitals.”

He added: “The role that the Polish carrier is honoured to play on this occasion is something only natural to us, and not only because we provide scheduled flights to Seoul, Tokyo and Beijing, but also because our mission is to promote Poland abroad.”

As part of its efforts to support the nation’s Olympic athletes, LOT has repainted one of its Boeing 787 Dreamliners to sport the red-and-white logo of the Polish Olympic Committee and feature the slogan "Proud to fly the Polish Olympic Team.”

Some 55 to 60 Polish athletes will compete in February’s winter Olympics, officials said 100 days ahead of the start of the games in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
