The survey by consulting firm Deloitte found that people in Poland intend to spend 2% more than they forked out last year.

The report added that Poles, traditionally big eaters during the festive season, are set to spend more on gifts than on food.

The findings indicate that people in Poland are preparing for Christmas earlier each year: 23% of respondents said they would buy presents in November, and 39% in the first half of December.

The Deloitte study also showed that Poles are planning to spend 42 percent of the money they have allocated for Christmas gifts in online stores, 5 percentage points more than a year ago.
