Weather forecasters have urged drivers to exercise caution after snow hit much of Poland on Thursday.

Up to 10 cm of snow was expected in southern and central parts of the country and up to 15 cm in mountainous areas.
Motorists were driving more slowly in many areas while pedestrians had to negotiate slippery paths.

A first- (or lowest) degree avalanche warning has been issued in the higher parts of the Bieszczady mountains in south-east Poland.
