Flights serviced by Polish airlines LOT will go ahead as scheduled on Tuesday, the airline's spokesman said after workers decided to call off a planned strike.

A three-hour protest over pay was held instead outside the airline's Warsaw head office on Tuesday morning.

According to the PAP news agency, some 100 people protested, mainly pilots and flight crew.

Trade unionists had planned a strike but called it off on Monday, citing concern for LOT employees and passengers.

The trade unionists oppose a 2013 pay decision made by the airline as it stood on the brink of bankruptcy, which trade unionists said is worse for workers.

Since 2013, pay has been dependent on time spent in the air, and new workers have not been given full-time contracts, working instead on casual or B2B contracts, which mean they do not receive paid sick or holiday leave. (vb)
