Four days of debate on the economy, culture, and society were set to take place until Sunday as part of an annual conference entitled the Poland - Great Project Congress.

According to Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, the event, now in its eighth year, is where "economic ideas for the future are forged.”

Morawiecki told Polish Radio on Thursday that the conference is a venue for “selfless debate about Poland” by people from across the political spectrum.

He called the Warsaw conference “an absolutely unprecedented event in the Polish intellectual landscape.”

“We are still thinking about how Poland could be stronger, how it could be even more beautiful, more proud of its history, but also proud of its future prospects, looking ahead,” Morawiecki said.

This year’s conference includes panel discussions on the rule of law and the separation of powers, in addition to one focusing on Polish industrial design, Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.

Promoting Poland

Participants are also expected to debate the importance of sport in promoting Poland as a brand and the role of expatriate Poles in promoting the country internationally.

Nobel Prize-winning American economist Thomas Sargent and German philosopher and cultural theorist Professor Peter Sloterdijk are among a host of foreign guests who have been invited to the conference, IAR reported.
