A change in rules is to come into force on October 1, according to public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency.

Police who stop a driver will be able to electronically consult a central database to check whether a motorist’s documents are in order, the agency said.

Meanwhile, IAR reported that Poland’s central register of vehicles and drivers was one of several systems used by public institutions that were down on Tuesday morning. The cause of the failure was not known, IAR added.
