Andrzej Bargiel, aged 30, reached the top of the 8,611-metre peak on Sunday morning Polish time, Poland's PAP news agency reported.

“K2 summit conquered! Time for the ride down,” Bargiel wrote on Twitter.

K2 is part of the Karakoram mountain range and located on the China–Pakistan border.

Bargiel failed in his first attempt to ski down K2 last year, saying the weather made it too dangerous to attempt the feat.

The Pole in 2015 became the first person to ski down the Himalayan mountain Broad Peak (8,015 m).
