The rules are designed to shorten the time it takes for a housing construction project to get off the ground from five years to one year.

The new law also enables developers to carry out housing projects on farmland within city limits and on former industrial and military sites, Poland’s PAP news agency reported.

According to real estate experts, there is still a shortage of around 3 million housing units in Poland.

The number of homes completed in Poland rose 6.3 percent in the first six months of this year compared to the same period in 2017, the country’s Central Statistical Office reported last month.
