Under the bill, the new Centenary of Regained Independence Medal will be presented as "a sign of gratitude and a gesture of respect for those who have made special contribution to the service of the state and society."
Recipients will include war veterans and public officials, in addition to successful businessmen and scientists, according to media reports.
The high-profile signing ceremony in the southern city of Kraków came after Poland's lawmakers in mid-June approved a presidential initiative to establish the new state decoration, the country's PAP news agency reported.
Poland regained independence on November 11, 1918, the day World War I ended, after 123 years of partition by Russia, Austria and Prussia.
