During a ceremony at the presidential palace in Warsaw, Duda said his pick for the job, Błażej Spychalski, was “an old, tried and tested colleague, a friend.”
The appointment came after Krzysztof Łapiński, who was once a driving force behind PR campaigns for Poland's ruling Law and Justice party, quit as the president's press spokesman earlier this week.
In a move that surprised many, Łapiński submitted his resignation after 15 months in the job.
Łapiński plans to withdraw from politics and set up a PR agency to provide services to business clients, according to the Rzeczpospolita daily.
