The Millennium Travel International agency, based in the southwestern town of Legnica, announced its insolvency on its website, adding that it was unable to pay for customers' return flights to Poland or for refunds, according to public broadcaster Polish Radio.

Some 300 affected Millennium Travel customers are in Greece, Bulgaria and Albania, according to a spokesman for the regional government office that received Millennium Travel's official insolvency declaration.

The office is working to get those tourists home, the spokesman said, adding that it would cost the travel agency's insurer in the ballpark of PLN 600,000 (EUR 140,000; USD 165,000).

The spokesman also said that travellers should not experience inconvenience and that holiday packages starting on or after September 20 have been suspended.

Millennium Travel, which was registered in 2011, had never demonstrated financial trouble, according to the spokesman. (vb/gs)
