Man faces 25 years for making fake money

A man faces up to 25 years in jail for producing counterfeit money in the northern Polish town of Gdynia, according to police.

Polish police were alerted by the Interpol law enforcement agency and detained the man, who was found in possession of fake EUR 50 notes, public broadcaster Polish Radio's IAR news agency reported.

Police also found machines used in fake currency production in his home.

Police allege the fake banknotes were being sold on the darknet and sent to many countries.

Police say the suspect may have been produced thousands of fake banknotes over a few years.

The man faces five to 25 years in jail. (vb/pk)
