Poles vote in second round mayoral elections

People from 649 local government areas in Poland are heading to the polls on Sunday to vote for their mayors in second-round elections.

Votes are being cast in nearly 2,500 municipalities where no candidate received more than 50 percent of the vote in the first round of elections two weeks ago.
Among those electorates are the southern Polish city of Kraków and the northern city of Gdańsk.
Across Poland, election silence, which started at midnight on Friday, continues until the ballots close on Sunday. (vb/di)
