The bill passed in a 230-187 vote with four abstentions in the lower house of parliament on Friday, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.

Poland and Croatia in 2015 launched a regional drive called the Three Seas Initiative to boost infrastructure, energy and economic cooperation as well as political ties among 12 European countries.

The new Polish research centre, named as the Central Europe Institute, is expected to provide strategic research to support government policy related to other Three Seas Initiative countries, the IAR news agency has reported, citing the Prime Minister’s Office in Warsaw.

The Three Seas Initiative brings together Poland, Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Hungary.
