Thirty-six percent plan to head out to visit family or friends, the poll found.

Meanwhile, 8 percent are planning a trip or aim to spend Christmas in a guest house or hotel.

Some 45 percent of respondents said they would spend PLN 100 (EUR 23, USD 26) to PLN 300 on gifts for relatives.

For over 40 percent of Poles, Christmas spending will account for a quarter of their monthly income, the survey found.

The study was carried out by the SW Research company on December 4-5, asking 1,083 Poles aged over 18 about their planned spending.
