The first turn of winter break starts on Monday, and the last one will end on February 24.

A spike in passenger numbers is expected to last throughout the period, and so connections to Poland’s mountain resorts of Wisła, Zakopane, Krynica Zdrój and Szklarska Poręba are to be geared up to carry more travellers.

Anna Zakrzewska from PKP Intercity said the company will also provide extra carriages on the existing connections.

The company was also encouraging passengers to buy tickets online in order to avoid queues at ticket offices and save money.
