Hoax 112 calls are no joke: Polish interior minister

More than four in ten calls in Poland to the 112 emergency number are hoaxes or unwarranted alerts, the country’s interior minister has said.

Joachim Brudziński appealed: "Let's talk to children about this, let’s educate our friends and colleagues, let's warn against these kinds of jokes. Because this is no joke, it's extreme irresponsibility."
Brudziński was speaking on Monday, during international “European 112 Day.”
The day, marked annually on February 11, was introduced by the European Union to highlight and encourage appropriate use of the Europe-wide emergency number 112.
Over 20 million calls were made to the emergency services on that number last year, Poland’s PAP news agency reported.
