Easter, which is replete with traditions informed by the country’s long Christian heritage, is also a period when Poles spend time with their families.

In line with custom, they enjoy a special Easter Sunday breakfast, including food which has been blessed by a priest in church the day before.

Christians on Easter Sunday celebrate the resurrection Jesus Christ following his crucifixion.

Over 90 percent of Poles declare themselves to be Catholics, according to statistics released by church officials last year.

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has sent Easter greetings to Poles in a special video.
